My friends think that I should not talk about politics on my blog but I am so eager to express my opinion that I have ignored them on that aspect. I am sure they will not comment on this article but they still love me and this is what counts for me.
Crisis in Haiti is not News for the world except this time it is of overwhelming proportion. The January 12, 2010 earthquake changed the face of Haiti and will most likely change the way Haitians and the Haitian government deal with daily routines. The daily routine and the economy of Haiti is another topic but right now we want to focus on what needs to happen in the short run if this nation is to be sovereign.
Haiti’s scheduled elections were cancelled after Port-au-Prince has been destroyed by a powerful and shallow earthquake. As a result the country is partially paralyzed with hundred of thousand displaced individuals waiting for help. How will Haiti, one year before its presidential election, handle the seemingly pressing emergency of earthquake victim, the growing poverty, and a transition of power? My friends, this is not an easy task and I am sure the absent minded Haitian leaders don’t have a clue. Well my friends, I don’t know either but I am in a better position to give them ideas because I am outside looking in, I will not run for office and I will not be anything important in politics over there.
Jean Max Bellerive is the Prime Minister, we should all agree that Haiti cannot afford presidential election right now because there is no money. Whatever the country has should be devoted to help rebuild in preparing a better tomorrow. On February 7, 2011, René Préval will step down as president if not before, he needs to and he knows it. The president of the Supreme Court should be president of the country and he will be wise to keep Bellerive as the interim Prime Minister as long as the Prime Minister’s performances can reassure the people that he is a leader. I am sure Jean Max Bellerive will not have a problem to serve his people. Within two years, Haiti can probably handle elections and the recovery period will already be ongoing, people will have jobs with the rebuilding of the Capital and the surrounding destroyed areas. This is my opinion and I welcome yours.

Haiti renaitra
Notre génération n'oubliera jamais que notre pays a subi une catastrophe épouvantable le 12 Janvier 2010 avec un nombre extraordinaire de vies perdues, on dit 200 000 mais qui vraiment peut confirmer ce nombre. Chaque journaliste a eu la chance de commenter sur Haiti. Certains de ces commentaires sont méchants et d'autres l'ont été encore plus. Pour Haiti la vie doit continuer, nos pertes sont énormes mais nous avons la chance de voir un avenir meilleur. Les problèmes sociaux qui nous concernent tous seront adressés et solutionnés au nom du peuple haïtien. Paix aux âmes de ceux qui sont partis trop tôt dans ce cataclysme. J'ai pleuré nos morts avant leur mort car je me plaignais de notre problème chronique de carence de ceci et de cela. J'ai dit à ma femme en pleurant que je regrette déjà pour ceux qui vont mourir faute de soins. J'ai pleuré Anaika St Louis cette petite fille de 11 ans qui a dit à sa mère: "Maman, ne me laisse pas mourir". c'était peut-être son dernier mot. Nous avons pleuré nos morts avec nos enfants et nous pensons aussi à ceux qui ont survécus, à ceux qui sont devenus orphelins, aux veufs et aux veuves, aux handicapés et aux sans-abris. Nous vous présentons nos vœux de sympathies tout en promettant de venir vous tendre une main secourable durant le cours de la reconstruction de notre pays.

Ils sont relégués au dernier plan et sont devenus quantité nulle.
Les Etats-Unis, le pays dans lequel j'habite avec ma famille, nous a montrés de la sympathie et ont pris les rennes pour faire passer l'aide internationale. Quoique les critiques faisant penser à une occupation continuent nous restons ferme et croyons que certaines fois il devient nécessaire de se fermer les yeux sur ce qui semble être un problème si le résultat peut être bénéfique à court et à long terme.
La France, le pays auquel nous devons notre héritage francophone, n'était pas indifférente au cours de cette période noire de notre histoire mais je veux bien redire que ce pays doit (devrait) avoir plus d'intérêts en Haïti que les Etats-Unis. Nos voisins du Nord ne nous comprennent pas toujours mes nos anciens colonisateurs devraient pouvoir comprendre que nos patrimoines national, culturel et intellectuel ont un lien direct et étroit avec la France.
Sortir Haiti de ce marasme naturel et artificiel nécessite le déploiement des élites intellectuelles haïtiennes tant en Haiti que dans la diaspora aux fins de planifier la reconstruction des institutions, la législation relative aux failles sociales qui ont causé la mort de ceux qui n'auraient pas du périr et d'autres projets visant à faire fonctionner l'économie de la nation de manière à ce que les routines journalières approvisionent positivement l'atmosphère funèbre qui pése sur les villes directement affectées par le séisme.
Nous nous mettons à la disposition de notre pays et nous ne serons pas des spectateurs mais nous allons travailler pour que les petites et grandes choses se fassent et que dans 2 à 5 ans nous voyons un changement.
Je me fais le porte parole de ma nation et de mon peuple, le peuple haïtien. Au nom de ma famille, la grande famille haïtienne, mes collègues et amis, je veux dire merci au monde entier pour avoir volé au secours de mon pays, Haïti au cours de ses moments de détresse. Ce bienfait ne sera jamais oublié.

Le vœu de mon cœur

Mon rêve le plus cher est d'être chaque jour une bénédiction pour une personne. Je prie en conséquence et je suis sûr que Dieu m'accordera cette faveur. Que ce soit par un sourire, une aide, un sandwich, ou un grand service, je voudrais être prêt à secourir un frère ou une sœur. J'ai lu un ouvrage en anglais récemment titré: "The power of purpose" dans lequel l'auteur demande à ce que l'on essaye de trouver sa vocation dans la vie. Qu'est ce qui vous plairait le plus dans la vie? Serait-ce avoir beaucoup d'argent? J'y ai pensé et me suis dit si j'ai beaucoup d'argent je passerais le reste de ma vie à aider ceux qui sont dans le besoin. Cela ne veut pas dire que je ne vivrai plus ma vie, je vivrai et je donnerai l'opportunité à beaucoup d'autres de vivre. Je leur permettrai de faire face à la vie en leur offrant les ressources nécessaires à leur succès. Je dois absolument mettre sur pieds une œuvre philanthropique pour aider les gens de ma nation premièrement et ceux des autres pays pauvres. Il faut qu'ils survivent, il faut que leurs enfants aient un avenir meilleur. J'ai appris que sans l'éducation une nation ne progressera pas. Il faut que les jeunes soient nourris du pain de l'instruction d'abord, c'est la seule porte de sortie. Il est impérieux que nous ne léguons plus des horizons bouchés à la nouvelle génération. Je suis un ami de l'éducation et je vais aider avec ou sans argent tous ceux qui veulent recevoir une éducation pour pouvoir jouir d'un lendemain meilleur.

Je viens de regarder un débat sur Haiti au cours duquel le modérateur a fait allusion à une malédiction. Beaucoup pensent vraiment que c'est une malédiction. Cette malédiction ne vient pas de Dieu car les années que j'ai vécues me disent que c'est la mauvaise foi et l'égoïsme de l'haïtien qui ont fourré le pays dans ce gouffre. Nous avons beau blamer nos chef d'états de ces dernières années pensant qu'ils devraient tenir ou maintenir leur promesse de campagne. Hélas! Nous avons tous oublié que pour Haïti la politique et l'intégrité ne sont pas jumeaux. La mégalomanie comme a dit Christiane Taubira fait partie de la vie de tout chef d'état. En nous penchant sur Haiti, nous pouvons comprendre qu'elle dit la vérité.
J'ai écrit à un ami de longue date ce matin lui demandant de m'aider à motiver ceux de notre génération qui ont été aussi fortunés que moi de recevoir une éducation en Haïti. Je faisais allusion à nous qui avons moins de temps à vivre que nous avions vécus. Il nous faut léguer à la nouvelle génération quelque chose qui la rendra fière de notre passage sur la terre.
Le problème haïtien ce n'est pas une malédiction si c'était le cas les ferventes prières de nos missionnaires, prêtres et pasteurs - sans compter celles des mères comme la mienne qui restent sur leurs genoux - auraient déjà assiégé le trône de la grâce et Dieu aurait répondu et délivré Haïti. Notre problème c'est l'égoïsme; nous ne nous entr'aidons pas et nous ne préparons pas le futur. Nous n'avons pas l'esprit compétitif nous croyons seulement que tout devrait être l'affaire d'un seul homme.
Le problème de l'éducation nous a voilés les yeux et nous empêchent de voir que seules les compétitions nous permettraient de faire un effort en plus pour arriver au paroxysme. Mais notre nature égoïste nous a aveuglé au point de nous mettre dans une situation où nous n'avons pas de choix que de blamer les autres.
Je ne voudrais pas vous faire un discours injurieux mais je voudrais de préférence vous donner l'opportunité de faire cette analyse interne sur votre comportement face à la société dans laquelle vous avez grandi et qui se détériore à petits feux.
Joignez-vous à moi sous une bannière d'alliés et assouvissons la faim de notre nation. Peut-être vous vous êtes naturalisés, je ne vous en veux pas que vous soyez Francais, Américain, Canadien et j'en passe vous êtes haïtiens de naissance et la nation qui vous a adoptés vous le rappele quotidiennement.
Venez faire éloge à notre devise L'Union fait la force et allons faire d'Haiti une nation respectable et respectée devant le monde.

Je disais que je devais mettre sur pieds une agence de services humanitaires. Je l'ai fait en Décembre dernier et tout marche comme sur des houlettes. Je l'ai baptisé HAWCHES, Inc. cela veut dire :Haitian-American Women/Children Health & Education Services, Inc. Cette organization ne se présentera pas comme une oeuvre philanthropique qui deviendra une affaire personnelle comme tant d'autres. Soyez assurés que ce sera une affaire communautaire. Vous, qui me lisez, verrez une nouvelle dimension aux services humanitaires. Cela va être la pièce maitresse de ce qui se passera en Georgie et en Haiti. Les plans se poursuivent pour atteindre d'autres villes où il y a moyen d'etendre ce projet. Je vous dirai plus dans les jours qui viennent. Visitez le site en construction www.hawches.org et revenez souvent pour nous aider à atteindre notre but.

I said that I needed to start an agency for humanitarian services. Well, it is done, I have set it up December 2007 and things are doing just fine. It is called HAWCHES, Inc. which stands for Haitian-American Women/Children Health & Education Services, Inc. This organization will not be a humanitarian service that will switch from philanthropy to business like many others. Be assured that this will be a community affair. Readers, you will see a new level of humanitarian services. This will be the master piece of what will happen in Georgia and Haiti. We are making plans to reach out to others cities with this project. We will tell you in the upcoming days. PLease visit our site being built www.hawches.org and come back to help us reach our goals.

What can you do for me?

This question comes up many times a day in various walk of life and many times the answers are inappropriate because many of us don’t know what we are looking for. I come to realize that there is enough wealth on the face of this planet to help cure diseases, restore order, save the lives of dying mother and babies, provide adequate education to poor children, and set long term economic growth for an impoverished nation of 8 million people.
I have a dream, maybe I can use Martin Luther King, Jr.’s line of I have a dream. Please allow me. I dream to see that the children of Haiti suffering from all sort of diseases and hunger – I could have been one of them – receive a permanent relief that would lead them to become self sufficient after receiving adequate healthcare and education. I dream to see that the rural areas of Haiti become like the suburbs of America, like the “” of France and Canada so the people living in them would have the basic necessities to live a life deserving of human beings. I dream to see that the Organizations working in Haiti seek transparency so instead of having tourist workers we can have humanitarian workers. I dream to see that little girls like “ti dane”, little boy like “hyson” receive fair treatment deserving of children. I dream to see that they receive a meal, a warm meal whenever the other kids are eating so they can feel alive even though they have no mom or dad. I dream to see that they are allowed to play with the other kids of the neighborhood instead of being worked day after day. I dream to see that they get the respect they deserve even if they get a spanking, it does not turn to be a beating with blood flowing down on their backs. I dream to see that they receive words of wisdom from adults who know better with love and kindness. I dream to see that they are sung a lullaby before they go to sleep or they are read a bedtime story even if it is about Nonk Bouki ak Kompe Malice.
I have a dream for the children of Haiti after all, I was a child in that country too. I have seen what “Mèjè” endured from a so-called aunt when she was pleading to be slapped instead of being beaten with a leather slipper on the face. I have seen and felt for Pauline who has been accused of stealing the money received from selling sweet potato pie (Haitian style) while the people knew where the money was so they would not pay her but instead beat her and run her away and threaten to kill her so she would never come back to claim what was hers. I have seen “Madame Numa” serving warm food to her husband and 10 children and the ones who have cooked the food only had a chance to smell it. They did not, nor could they get the opportunity to lick the pans because after “Madame Numa” finished serving her family she dumps the pans (chaudières) under a dirty water in the kitchen sink. Those maids were paid $4 per month and they were not to receive any free meal from their mistress and if they would be caught touching a miniscule little portion of the food that they cook, they get a real beating, the one reserved to the common thieves in Haiti. I have a dream to change Haitian society for the better.
I want to start with the children who only have a voice to cry. I want to quote the French lyrics of a song by Yves Duteil and translate it somehow, it says:

I want to open the doors of Haiti to you today so you can make things happen. I don’t want you to give me money, I want you to go over there and build a school, build a clinic, build a hospital, and build an orphanage. Take care of the staff that will run those services so they can take good care of those children for a better tomorrow. I tried to invite former US President Bill Clinton, Ambassador Andrew Young, Ambassador Janet Sanderson, Haitian President René Preval, US President Georges Bush, French President Nicolas Sarkozy, England’s Queen Elizabeth, Pope Benoit XVI, US Senator Hillary Clinton, Senator John Mc Cain, Senator Barack Obama, TV Talk Show Queen Oprah Winfrey, all of the Haitian Hollywood celebrities and also anyone with a humanitarian reason to see a better Haiti, please join me.
I am such a small name I don’t have the power to pull those people together. We are taking about Haiti, the former pearl of the Caribbean, the country that is in America’s backyard, the former joy for European colonialism. I want the world to look at Haiti and tell me if there is no way to save this nation. I want the world to look at Haiti and tell me if this is a lost cause. I want the Haitian celebrities from all corners of the Globe to tell me where would they be today if Haiti did not give birth to them? I have questions. Do you have answers? Let’s discuss this I am sure I will win the cause for Haiti. I can’t wait for the challenges. Haiti needs the United States of America and Canada today. Haiti needs the Western World to help her get out of this misery. I am calling on France, Great Britain, Spain and the nations of South America as well. Haiti has set a path of freedom for the New World but she is struggling to make ends meet for her children, she is helpless and will be hopeless if you don’t come join hands to rescue her. I dream to see that the children of Haiti suffering from all sort of diseases and hunger – I could have been one of them – receive a permanent relief that would lead them to become self sufficient after receiving adequate healthcare and education. I dream to see that the rural areas of Haiti become like the suburbs of America, like the “” of France and Canada so the people living in them would have the basic necessities to live a life deserving of human beings. I dream to see that the Organizations working in Haiti seek transparency so instead of having tourist workers we can have humanitarian workers. I dream to see that little girls like “ti dane”, little boy like “hyson” receive fair treatment deserving of children. I dream to see that they receive a meal, a warm meal whenever the other kids are eating so they can feel alive even though they have no mom or dad. I dream to see that they are allowed to play with the other kids of the neighborhood instead of being worked day after day. I dream to see that they get the respect they deserve even if they get a spanking, it does not turn to be a beating with blood flowing down on their backs. I dream to see that they receive words of wisdom from adults who know better with love and kindness. I dream to see that they are sung a lullaby before they go to sleep or they are read a bedtime story even if it is about Nonk Bouki ak Kompe Malice.
I have a dream for the children of Haiti after all, I was a child in that country too. I have seen what “Mèjè” endured from a so-called aunt when she was pleading to be slapped instead of being beaten with a leather slipper on the face. I have seen and felt for Pauline who has been accused of stealing the money received from selling sweet potato pie (Haitian style) while the people knew where the money was so they would not pay her but instead beat her and run her away and threaten to kill her so she would never come back to claim what was hers. I have seen “Madame Numa” serving warm food to her husband and 10 children and the ones who have cooked the food only had a chance to smell it. They did not, nor could they get the opportunity to lick the pans because after “Madame Numa” finished serving her family she dumps the pans (chaudières) under a dirty water in the kitchen sink. Those maids were paid $4 per month and they were not to receive any free meal from their mistress and if they would be caught touching a miniscule little portion of the food that they cook, they get a real beating, the one reserved to the common thieves in Haiti. I have a dream to change Haitian society for the better.
I want to start with the children who only have a voice to cry. I want to quote the French lyrics of a song by Yves Duteil and translate it somehow, it says:

I want to open the doors of Haiti to you today so you can make things happen. I don’t want you to give me money, I want you to go over there and build a school, build a clinic, build a hospital, and build an orphanage. Take care of the staff that will run those services so they can take good care of those children for a better tomorrow. I tried to invite former US President Bill Clinton, Ambassador Andrew Young, Ambassador Janet Sanderson, Haitian President René Preval, US President Georges Bush, French President Nicolas Sarkozy, England’s Queen Elizabeth, Pope Benoit XVI, US Senator Hillary Clinton, Senator John Mc Cain, Senator Barack Obama, TV Talk Show Queen Oprah Winfrey, all of the Haitian Hollywood celebrities and also anyone with a humanitarian reason to see a better Haiti, please join me.
I am such a small name I don’t have the power to pull those people together. We are taking about Haiti, the former pearl of the Caribbean, the country that is in America’s backyard, the former joy for European colonialism. I want the world to look at Haiti and tell me if there is no way to save this nation. I want the world to look at Haiti and tell me if this is a lost cause. I want the Haitian celebrities from all corners of the Globe to tell me where would they be today if Haiti did not give birth to them? I have questions. Do you have answers? Let’s discuss this I am sure I will win the cause for Haiti. I can’t wait for the challenges. Haiti needs the United States of America and Canada today. Haiti needs the Western World to help her get out of this misery. I am calling on France, Great Britain, Spain and the nations of South America as well. Haiti has set a path of freedom for the New World but she is struggling to make ends meet for her children, she is helpless and will be hopeless if you don’t come join hands to rescue her. Dear Mr. President
I don't have a known name in America. Benoit (Be nwa) does not mean much to a lot of people. The only Benoit that was in the News was the wrestler Chris Benoit. We are not related I have never even met him. I am copying on Tom Foreman, I am sure you know him because he sends you 245 letters this year alone. I hope he does not tire you.
It seems to me that you have not been paying attention to the news because you are the news. As President you have to deal with the economy, Afghanistan, healthcare, your family and the Republicans. To make matters worse for you, here I come writing you too. Tom Foreman has some competition now because we believe in capitalism here. The only person who has a monopoly is you because you are President until January 2012. No competition up to that point.
You have great memory of what they said last year - they thought they were winning. Well, they want you to fail you know so they can say "see, I told you so." But Sir, you have work to do and those people have never been elected to anything so don't mind them. Remember you are the President of the United States of America. Keith Olbermann would like that.
Everything we touch nowadays has Obama written all over it. We, I mean myself and those who have voted for you, would like to give you a tiny nickname. How about Obi? I hope Michelle would not mind and I hope those who read my blog like it too. As you can see if it is okay with your wife and those who voted for you we will call you Obi. Even as President, here your vote does not count. Can we do that? I guess it is okay with you.
Well Mr. President my lunch is getting cold. I will be in the DC area in October. I have not had a beer for 28 years, I am not kidding you. If you want to invite me to the White House for a beer, I will travel to DC sooner. We have much to discuss.
You need to go get some food too, you have been up for a while.

Earmarks
Let's be realistic. Many members of Congress from both parties brought negative remarks about earmarks. Those guys have been living off of earmarks for decades and suddenly they want to get rid of the word. Well, they have the power to do so because the used word came from a reference to particular needs of their districts. We may see the demise of "earmarks" as we know it but we need to be ready for something politically correct like "appropriation". Earmarks are appropriations, I am not right? It would be defined differently, have a different connotation just to fool the constituents who would never vote for that congressperson but this would essentially be the same car painted a different color. Understand? Call it earmarks, appropriation or uncle buck money it is the same white or black tailed Jack Rabbit.
The president said that he is working for the American people, we will have a chance to judge him. The Republicans and Democrats members of Congress are working for us as well but they are yet to find a way to compromise over the most important issue where a CONSENSUS can be developped to tackle the nation's economic problems.
I am calling on the Republican leaders to work with the President's team and agree to move forward with the most crucial issues. Earmarks, Stem Cell research and those other small items that most Republicans don't want to hear about should be set aside as things of low priority and focus on Main Street, yeah, my house, your house, our future and that of our children. Guys stop bickering and get to work TOGETHER, both side, if not you may not have a job comes January 2011.
